Two great musicians: Nora & Ilya

Two great musicians: Nora & Ilya

So as I said before Daedric Tales is on tour right now. The Hellhammer Festival in seperated in two parts: The Austrian block and the Czech block. Since the recording of our album The Divine Menace fate is constantly and relentlessly giving us shit and when we fix one thing another thing falls apart. The trend keeps up even during our tour.

Dear fate, give me a break

Days before our CD release show on February 25th Daedric Tales vocalist Alexandra Kastrinakis fell sick. After a lot of trouble and stress she decided to still sing. However to play it safe we shortened our set by 30 minutes. She recovered but fell sick again right before the Austrian block of the tour. Thankfully we could rely on the author and great singer Nora Bendzko from Nightmarcher and Avem. She learned the set super fast and accompanied us on our shows.

Now Alex has recovered for sure and today we will dispatch for the Czech block. However our drummer Jakob Griller can’t join us for the next few shows. Again we are really grateful that we have such great friends: Ilya Tabachnik from Welicoruss (who also play at the Hellhammer Festival) will play our set too as a substitute drummer. He learned the 40 minute set in two days or so and nailed the battering for sure. Daedric Tales is excited as a band to play the upcoming shows in Prague, Brno and Ostrava with him.

Growing up as a band

All these substitutions are part of growing up. If you can’t put your ego aside and let someone else play for you, your band is doomed to fail. Especially when you are not that big of a deal yet. Shows benefit the band and this is not about you. Therefore I am proud of Alex, Jakob and Gonzalo (who had a ton of burdens and nevertheless flew thousands of kilometers to play) because they all see the importance of playing, no matter what.

And I also am proud of Nora and Ilya because they don’t take the substitute role lightly and really put a lot of energy and effort into their work. Should you ever be in need of talented people, give them a call or write them a message. They are really sociable, friendly and professional and also flexible about the conditions. In general great people to have around. Anyway, I really need to dispatch now. The rest of the band is waiting for me. Gotta rock the Czech Republic, so see you on the stage!
